Moheb Ghali has been Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School and Professor of Economics at Western Washington University since 1993. Prior to that, he served as the University of Hawaiiís Director of Research for nine years after being Professor of Economics for thirteen years. He received a B.Com degree from Cairo University, Masterís degree from the University of California- Berkeley, and his doctorate from the University of Washington. He taught at Rice University, the University of Washington and the University of Hawaii. He is also Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Hawaii.

Ghali authored and edited three books on the economy of Hawaii and published more than 50 papers in academic journals such as The American Economic Review, The Quarterly Journal of Economics, The Review of Economics and Statistics, Econometrica, Economic Modeling, Economic Development and Cultural Change, The International Journal of Production Economics, The Western Economic Journal, and The Southern Economic Journal. His research was also published in The Journal of Criminal Justice, Sociology and Sociological Review, Higher Education, and The Journal of Regional Science. He was selected as a Senior Fulbright Scholar three times, and received Fellowships from the National Science Foundation, the governments of Egypt and the government of Italy. He has consulted for the US Department of Labor, Hawaii State Government and the government of Egypt.

Professor Ghali has served on a number of regional and national and international boards including, the Western Association of Graduate Schools (President); Washington Technology Center: Washington Association for Biomedical Research: Federal Demonstration Project: Council on Research and Technology. He is currently serving on the Council of Graduate Schools Board of Directors (Executive Committee); the Graduate Record Examination Board (Executive Committee); International Society for Inventory Research (Past President and Executive Committee); and is the President of the Board of Directors of St. Paulís Episcopal School.
