Gary Walton Professor, UH-Manoa Economics, 1970-1972
Dr. Gary Walton is professor of economics at the University of California, Davis. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Washington under the direction of Noble Laureate Douglass C. North, and his research areas are economic history and applied microeconomics. Professor Walton is the author of numerous articles in the field of economic history and has coauthored (with Hugh Rockoff) the leading textbook in the field, History of the American Economy, now in its 10th edition. He is also the author of Beyond Winning: The Timeless Wisdom of Great Philosopher Coaches. Dr. Walton is President of the Foundation for Teaching Economics and he teaches internationally in special programs he created on economics and leadership. He is the founding dean of the Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Davis. Professor Walton plays alto sax in his Jazz quartet.
